The guides at Ron’s Fly Shop are, simply put, nuts about trout fishing! Because our guides are not worked 7 days a week for 2 months straight like in other cases, the guides aren’t suffering from “burnout”, and will be a pleasure to spend the day with. In addition, our guides also have a strong knowledge base of the two main rivers in our area, the AuSable and Manistee, which is an essential part of the overall experience. You’ll be paired up with one of our guides who were practically born on the water, and can actually ‘think’ like a trout (well almost!).
Although our guides will work as hard as possible to help you catch fish, keep in mind that sometimes just catching a trout adds to the beauty and flair of the angling experience.
Most of the fishing will be conducted using the traditional AuSable Riverboat that is unique to this geographic area of Michigan. At other more appropriate times, a drift boat may be used, such as in the case of nymph or streamer fishing on the big water below Wakeley Bridge and Mio.
As is necessary for our great state of Michigan, all of our guides are fully licensed, permitted, and insured to be on our local waters.
