The shop has been as busy as a bee hive, hence the lateness is getting this fishing report out to all of you. Hex will be showing up strong in the next 2-3 days. Lake Margrethe outside of Grayling a short distance, has had Hex hatching for 5 nights now. It usually takes about 7-10 days for the Hex to hit the river system after the start out at the lake. That trend is also synonymous with the Brown Drakes, but this year the drakes were on the river in just 3 days! Therefore, with a stretch of relatively warm weather in mid-May, the hatches got a bit of a jump start from Mother Nature, and are occurring a few days earlier than normal.
Fishing has been good as of late, with Iso’s in size #10 and #12 presented to rising fish or simply fished blind. Ron’s Mahogany Drake is a great representation of the Iso in the previously mentioned sizes.
Fishing from an AuSable boat can be a relaxing, hassle-free way to fish. Not to mention a rewarding experience as well! Charlie Thompson is a pro now as indicated by his success in the following photo…
